A Survey on Non-Home Accidents in Families of Citizen´s Apartment of Seoul Area

Abstract
|
|
|
This survey was conducted to find out non-home (outside-home) accidents of the 1, 352 family member of 278 families living in citizen´s apartment by retrospective study during the period of August 1,1972 through July 31,1973.
The results of the survey were as follows:
1) Among the total number of accidents of 5, 951 cases, home, occupational, others and traffic accidents were 84.0%, 10.2%, 5.5% and 0.3%.
2) The average prevalence rate of non-home accident 1, 000 person per year was 704. 1 cases in total, 1410.8 cases in age group 5-14, 1145.8 cases in age group 1524, 40.8 cases in age group 0,4.
3) Regardless of age groups, non-home accidents due to athletic was 41. 0 percent.
4) Non-home accidents to male respondents were 2. 4 times higher than female in total.
5) Drown, fall, piercing, blow and impact and insect bite were the highest problem in
age group from 5 to 14. While athletic was the first rank non-home accidents in age
group of 1524.
6) Management were as follows;
a) Visited physician-4. 0 % of the total. b) Treatment period-2.7 days in 75.8%. c) Cost for treatment-1, 000 won in 72.7%. d) Healing-99.5 %. e) Deceased-0. 2%. f) Crippled 0.3%.
7) There was no relationship between the non-home accident and the monthly income ,of the family.
8) There was little relationship between the non-home accident and the educational level showed in the x2 test (P>0.05)
